The Texas Experience Considering a move to ranch life in the great state of Texas? One way to experience the beauty and solitude of the Texas landscape is to visit a state park. Many are former ranch tracts themselves, according to the Texas State Library, dontated in the early 1900's when the state's parks department was in it's infancy. You can experience every type of landscape Texas has to offer; the Mountains of the Big Bend Ranch Park, the canyons of Palo Duro Canyon Park, and most recently, the presteen coast line of the Powderhorn Ranch. The Nature Conservancy boasts that "the Powderhorn Ranch is one of the largest remaining, undisturbed tracts of native coastal prairie habitats left in Texas." This land is the newest Texas ranch turned state park set to open to the public in 2018. Pam LeBlanc, of the Austin American Statesman, reported on the Texas Parks and Wildlife land aquisition and its value to Texas' cultural and ecological conservancy.
